It is not a fight against Pandemic!
It
is not a fight against Pandemic!
-Sukanya Singh
What to utter? How to?
Blaming right? Trolling? Sarcastic memes? India is a developing country. It is
growing from multi spheres right from agriculture to trade to transport to
health care to security aspects to science and technology, education to cultural
arenas to social chapters. We think with the help of immense collaboration of
people from different walks of life, a collective decision making would modify
and keep on bringing in positive changes to our country. What I would convey
these as our ‘imagination’. Why because in the past few months, during the
lockdown period, I have noticed one thing that, in a situation like ‘pandemic’
stage, people could not even function certain operations peacefully and as 'one'.
I literally observed two distinct types of war. One, the ‘external’ due to the
outburst of Covid-19 and second one, ‘internal’ due to the misleading
information that was intentionally typed up by some section of the population
on their facebook profiles, stories or whatsapp statuses, tweets or any other
public information carrier platforms. Almost whole of the lockdown witnessed
the criticise, taunting and all the negative speeches from some sections of
people. How can a nation like India would develop in such a way? What I saw it
as a ‘political biased fight’ rather than a fight against the dangerous
pandemic.
I went through many
posts, tweets and other such stories of some people and got to know that some
people are focusing somewhere else rather than where they should actually. To
take out the answer of the ‘because’ aspect of the statement above, make a
flashback of the initial lockdown days. We knew we were all prone to the deadly
virus if we go out. Lockdown was imposed. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra
Modi humbly requested all the citizens of the country to stay calm and engage
into some activities. One was to boost up the people such as the doctors,
nurses and other such individuals who were working like anything day and night
equally for the covid affected patients in the hospitals by ringing bells and
clapping from their balconies, without stepping outside their homes. The second
activity was to light the earthen lamps, candles, torch lights, mobile flash
lights and other illuminating objects from people’s balconies. The other sources
of light were asked to be switched off inside the house for some time. It was a symbolic act
against the darkness spread by the corona crisis as stated by the Prime
Minister of India.
What do we see next?
Right from the very first speech for the nation by Narendra Modi, some sections
of the people did not cooperate at all. It was observed that some people took
this event lightly and stepped out of their homes to pay tribute to all those
brave hearts working for the patients. On the other hand, some 'educated fools'
created a scenario and mislead the other people of the society as if the Prime
Minister told the people to come out of their homes and celebrate the first
event in that way. Again when the second activity was announced, some of the
people already started to post that such an activity is useless, baseless and
that would lead to certain accidents. Some created memes of diwali, pictures
showing burning houses, etc. These people should have at least minimum level of
understanding that there are some members especially the illiterates of the
society, the children or the teens who might not have the ability to understand
such memes or sarcasm. A mere picture is enough to influence and misguide them.
They might not know what the world is suffering from. They might not know what
is corona virus and what is it doing to people. The sections of people who were
at their possible pace to make the world know that these are baseless
activities, they should have this much of sensibility that Prime Minister did
not tell people to burn the houses nor celebrate diwali. Again those people
should have this much of knowledge that no any matured person would ask a small
child or a kid to light the earthen lamp or burn a candle and if it is then for
sure not without the elder’s presence. They are not so foolish to select a
place to do so where they see something dangerous. People light diyas and other
sources of light and they have the understanding of where to light and how to
light. Sometimes accident might take place but this did not mean that just
because the Prime minister told and it happened. We witness many such accidents
in our day to day lives.
It is very pathetic situation
when people did not stop making criticising statements or sarcastic memes or
posting any other misleading information during such a worse condition of the
country. Instead of helping each other to inform about the actual cause and
remedy, these sections of people were seen misguiding others with their self
made stories via different social public platforms; which were actually reflecting their distinct 'political biased fight'. A country would never get
developed if such things keep on happening every now and then. It is a humble
request to all to maintain peace and harmony. It is time we stood together and
fight against the pandemic rather than to sow the seeds of hatred, faulty
information to provoke others and reflecting stories that are of no use and
value.
As a responsible
citizen of India, I have just outlined certain mistakes of some of the people
of the society who entitled the rest with ‘thalibajao morons’ and request them
not to continue such ill practices, so as to make our country happy and more
powerful than before. I request all to work positively for the betterment of
the country and follow humanity.
